Designing the Sound of Attainment: Interview with Ryan Barndt

Introducing Ryan Barndt, an Audio Designer and Software Technical Assistant at Attainment

Ryan creates audio for our apps and software, so products like GoWorksheet Maker and Stages Math Software will be accessible and sound great!

What is a typical day like for you?

A typical day for me would be coming in and creating audio for our apps and software—everything thing from music, sound effects, and voice-overs.  I also handle creating preview and promotional videos for our apps and software.

Is there a particular project you're working on right now that you can tell us about?

I am currently working on the animations for Explore Life Science. I am in charge of creating the sound and background music for 11 animations. To create some of the sounds I had to go out and do field recording with various microphones in many different places. I then edited the sounds, and synced and mixed them with the music and video.

Here's a sample of Ryan's work for the Explore Life Science curriculum:

What was your professional path like before starting at Attainment?

Before Attainment my path was to be a sound designer for media, apps, movies, and even video games. Attainment has helped me take the next step into that path.

How would you describe the Attainment team? What motivates them?

Motivated, friendly, passionate, and creative. Everyone is always striving to learn more and produce the best work that they can. It really motivates you to do your best, and strive to put out better and better work.

What is your favorite thing about living in the Madison/Verona area?

There is always something to do, whether its going to a show, doing something downtown, or just relaxing outside. It’s a relaxed and fun place to live.

Thanks Ryan!
