Practical Perspective: Donating a Voice to AAC Users

“Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others.” Booker T. Washington

As a follow-up to my reflection about gratitude, I would like to share an opportunity for you to be an active part of the solution for individuals with complex communication needs. Thousands of augmentative and assistive communication (AAC) device users were impacted by hurricanes and other natural disasters during 2017, and the United States Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (USSAAC) is working to help!

Please consider making a small, end-of-year donation so that USSAAC may continue to support those individuals in the AAC community who have faced devastation from these disasters. AAC pioneer, Dr. Sarah Blackstone, was a guest blogger at PrAACtical AAC this month and works closely with USSAAC. The work they are doing to assist families is simply priceless. Consider joining the Attainment Company, and many other companies and individuals, by supporting USSAAC’s tremendous efforts to restore voices across the United States.

Wishing each of you a very happy holiday season and the hope of a bright new year!
