The Explore Algebra Curriculum is a year-long algebra course that covers both foundational and standards-based algebra concepts in 10 chapters. The curriculum comes with an Instructor's Guide with detailed lesson plans that embed evidence-based practices, like time delay and model-lead-test, to promote quality instruction. It also features content-based activities that instructors can implement to enhance student learning and foster engagement, and tips on how to use the included algebra tiles and coordinate plane. Content-specific UDL charts are provided at the start of each lesson to meet the needs of all learners in the classroom.
The Student Book contains 10 chapters, each starting with a Big Picture statement, which gives an overview of the theme as it relates to an image from everyday life. Next, the four topics for the chapter are displayed with a topic illustration and the Remember! text. Each topic opens with an introductory statement from a mathematician, a topic-related illustration, and highlighted vocabulary that is explored within the text/dialog. QR codes link to videos showing how the algebra tiles can be used for the topic objective. Challenge lessons and chapter check-ups are also included. For students who struggle to bridge concrete to abstract concepts, we've created an alternate level, Level A, by lessening the complexity of the text and emphasizing the big ideas. This version is available digitally to easily project or print off to students in class.
The Curriculum also comes with consumable Student Workbooks (2-book set), Vocabulary Cards, Script Card, hands-on manipulatives, specifically 42 algebra tiles and a coordinate plane with pegs, as well as digital files on the HUB for extra activities, chapter check-ups, and blank templates for creating your own activities!
