Stories are organized by a this-date-in-history format. Each one-page story features an activity page with relevant questions and discussion topics.
The activities allow readers to practice skills like reading for details, locating information, finding facts and improving vocabulary. Activity page formats vary to maintain interest, using word pyramids, crossword puzzles, fill-in-the-blanks and true/false questions. Related research options for each story encourages use of a dictionary, atlas or encyclopedia to gather additional information.
Pages are provided in an easy-to-photocopy, loose-leaf format. Ideal as a reading comprehension supplement for older students.
