Sound Out Chapter Books provides students, ages 7-12, with systematic opportunities to practice decoding one-syllable and simple two-syllable words. Books and Software are organized into six phonics-based difficulty levels, three books in each level. The books feature first grade readability, easy to follow story lines, and clear illustrations with captions. All 18 books have six chapters and are 28 pages in length. The high frequency (sight) words that appear in a book are listed on the last page.
Levels:
- One: one syllable words with short vowels.
- Two: one syllable words with short and long vowels.
- Three: consonant blends and digraphs.
- Four: diphthongs and silent letters.
- Five: compound words.
- Six: two syllable words and prefixes/suffixes.
The Sound Out Chapter Books Software reads the books aloud as text is highlighted and lets students click on any word for identification. Engaging, interactive questions at the end of each story help students truly understand what's read. An easy-to-use management system lets you select books for each student and stores student performance results.
