PixWriter is a talking picture and word processor, ideal for beginning and struggling writers. It helps students write independently by combining symbol support with highlighted text and speech. Pictures bring meaning to words and voice output encourages multi-media learning. Users can compose written documents without mastering phonics, spelling, and alphabet skills. Teachers or parents simply enter a word and press the space bar to make a button. Repeat to make a word bank in minutes. Students then select buttons with their mouse, touch screen, interactive white board or switch to write original work! All documents that are created by the students can be printed, saved, emailed or loaded onto personal devices.
Here’s how it works: You create illustrated buttons to form a word bank by simply entering text. The program includes 10,500 pictures automatically matched to words. You can easily sequence the buttons to make phrases or arrange by parts of speech. Word banks can be color coded and range from 2 to 64 buttons. Students choose content from these buttons to create original work. Their documents can be saved, printed, or emailed. PixWriter is ideal for students at any age with intellectual disability or autism.
